La Boite Concept, Cube - 雲聲 | wan4 sing1 concept
Year: 2015
Material: Metal wire
Dimension: 1.5mm dia x 140m L

The Cube is originally designed for high-quality and low-level listening with the greatest listener mobility in a space.

The reinterpretation of La Boite Concept, Cube by Cheungvogl for Design Commune at the International Design Furniture Fair IDFFHK, Hong Kong, 2015 is conceived to enhance stereophonic listening with heightened sensory perception.

A 140 meter long metal wire intertwines and encases the speaker, forming a cloud space. The cloud is structured to minimise the impact of vibrations onto the ground by reducing the footprint to tiny contact points. The bent wire multiplies the frequency when transferring sound waves onto the surfaces of the cloud. The structure subtly vibrates with the frequencies of the bass, translating sound from hearing to sensing. Listeners can experience new sensory awareness of hearing, feeling and seeing the movement of sound through a cloud of wire.
